Who is LES MILLS?

New Zealander and four-time Olympian Les Mills Sr. opened his first gym in 1968. While studying at UCLA in the USA, his son, Philip, became aware of the very beginnings of the aerobics movement, and was fascinated. He immediately understood the dynamic character of group exercise classes, and the programme of courses offered by their family business, which they had founded in the meantime, were quickly successful - long queues formed outside the LES MILLS studios in New Zealand. When they introduced the first class with weights on a barbell bar, LES MILLS revolutionised the fitness industry for good - with the BODYPUMP class format!

Three generations later, 21,000 studios in over 110 countries worldwide offer LES MILLS group training programmes. The LES MILLS mission is to create a fitter world and make people - regardless of their ability or level - fall in love with fitness via special class programmes of outstanding quality. Millions of people around the world have now done so and more are joining.

The LES MILLS programmes
